P&G looking to franchise Mr. Clean car washes

CINCINNATI (AP) — Procter and Gamble Co.'s Mr. Clean is ready to flex his muscles in the car-wash business.

P&G has been dabbling in drive-through car washes and owns three Mr. Clean Performance Car Wash outlets in and around of hometown of Cincinnati. The company said Friday that it's ready to expand the concept and is seeking franchisees to open locations throughout Ohio and Kentucky.

The car wash business venture continues to be an unusual one for the consumer products maker, which has had only rare brushes with retailing and has never before allowed the franchising of one of its businesses.
